What is BitTorrent
I am not going to explain every details about bittorrent, but you can google for it ;) . To keep it short and simple, you can download massive size of files using bittorrent, it is basically a protocol which allows people to share files in a peer to peer(p2p) network, it can be anything such as videos, applications or images.Neat huh.
Lets get going, 1st you need to know, that if you just download the torrent file, what you will get is only the torrent file, it is a file with the '.torrent' extension. In order to fully utilize the true purpose of the file, you need to open it with a bittorrent client.
The Clients
There are a few of bittorrent client which you can choose from, some are better than the other, but down here are the list of the big players (i think)
Bitcomet - a c++ based bittorrent client, doesn't uses much of your RAM, full of features and it is what i use
Azureus - a java based client, it is very cool and popular, only setback is it uses much of your memory
Utorrent - small and portable bittorrent client, doesn't cost a lot of your memory and filled with features
To download, you can click on the names of the torrent, it is linked to the download site. (You need to download the torrent client to use the torrent you know)
The Files
After you already downloaded the torrent client and installed it, you only need the torrent file. Now, where can you find one? There are a few sites which host this torrent files. Below are a few example of sites which i frequently visits.
To get a torrent file, you can go to one of this websites or any other website that hosts torrent files and search for something that you want to download. Unfortunately, i can't give you any examples of what type of thing you can download using torrent, but go and have a look, you will get the idea.
After you have thought of something to download, searched for it,got the search result, look for any that match the item you want to download, found one, then you click on it. After that, try to look for a button or sign where it says something like:
Download Torrent or Download or Download This Torrent.
Yeah, you get the idea, find the key word, DOWNLOAD.
Now that you have found the download link, click on it, a window will appear prompting you to save or open the file. Choose open file, but make sure that the file is opened with your chosen torrent client.
With Firefox
With Internet Explorer
After that, your torrent client should start accepting files from the peer to peer network, with bitcomet, it will look something like below.
