Hi.. great guide. just wanted to say that it is _possible_ to allow more half open connections (HOC).. the maximum allowed half open connections is: 16777214, which is absolutely rediculous as there are only 65455 ports availible. you may select between 10 and 16777214 when you use the choose number (C) option. However, allowing more than 100 HOC is not recommended as it allows the spreading of worms very fast. good luck everyone, happy bittorrenting. - phobia :: |\| |V| |-|

I totally agree with you mate, people could use this same application to allow more HOC (more than 50), it is my bad that i didn't disclose that info in this tutorial. But since you have commented on it, maybe i will edit the tutorial, just to add the note you have pointed out. Anyway, thanks :-)

Is there a way to do this on *Vista* as it has a 10 HOC limit as well and I can't find any info about how to change it. I hope I don't need to go back to xp just because of this one issue.

Already using Vista ? sorry mate, there are currently no known patch for eventid 4226 made for Vista, at least none of which i know of. Vista is still new and you would probably need to wait a while for someone to make the patch. I feel for you bro, but it shouldn't be a good enough reason to revert back to XP, or is it?
dante on 2007-02-25 20:01 | Reply
Maybe not reverting, but I might need to install XP on the second Hard Drive cause I download and upload about 30 - 40 gigs a month using P2P programs and this problem driving me crazy. Thanks for the quick reply though.

Woo, 30-40 Gig?! that's like some uploader from eztv or something. Anyway, in case there is a new patch from the eventid4226patchs author, i will surely inform you about it :-) gudluck uploading

Heres the problem.. That patcher edits "tcpip.dll" for windows XP.. Which is all fine and dandy.. But.. With Vista, the file name is changed to "tcpipcfg.dll" (notice 'cfg' added to the end of tcpip So someone needs to rewrite that patch to change the batch file to look for the new version.
dante on 2007-03-19 10:40 | Reply
If the offset is the same in tcpipcfg.dll and the old tcpip.dll couldn't you rename the vista one prior to the patch then rename the patched dll back to tcpipcfg?

Thanks, seems to work a treat. If you have trouble using it try disabling UAC before running it

i used the path and open it to 50 half-open connections and somthing started using all my cpu could this be a virus or is it just the half-open connections
dante on 2007-07-04 15:46 | Reply
did you have a p2p program running in the background? If so then that could have been the cause, check task manager to see what process is eating up the cpu.
